Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to apply?
We are looking for early-stage tech startups, solo founders, or individuals with innovative tech-driven solutions that are at the prototype or MVP (Minimum Viable Product) stage. If your solution has the potential to scale and make a significant impact, we encourage you to apply.
What is the selection process?
The process consists of three phases:
- Application Phase: Submit your application with all required details.
- Shortlisting: Our panel of judges will review the submissions and select the top applicants.
- Pitch Preparation and Event: The shortlisted participants will be coached for a first-level pitch, from which our top 5 finalists will emerge. The 5 finalists will make their final pitch at The Texcellence Conference, where the winners will be announced.
Do I need a fully functional product to apply?
Not necessarily! While having a working prototype is highly encouraged and preferred, we are also interested in innovative ideas and solutions at the MVP stage or early development. If you can show strong potential for impact and scalability, your solution could be selected.
Do I need to attend the event in person?
Depending on the format (virtual or physical), finalists will be required to present live. We will provide more details based on whether the event is hosted in-person or virtually.
My startup is pre-revenue. Can we still apply?
Yes! We welcome pre-revenue startups, but you must have at least a working prototype or MVP to demonstrate.
We've raised seed funding. Are we still eligible?
Yes, as long as your total funding (including grants, angel investments, etc.) doesn’t exceed $500k.
Can university projects or student startups apply?
Absolutely! We encourage applications from university-affiliated startups as long as they meet other eligibility criteria.
What should our pitch deck include?
Your pitch deck should be 10-15 slides covering – the problem statement, solution, market opportunity, business model, competition, traction, team, and funding needs.
Can I update my application after submission?
No, you will not be able to update your application after submission.
How much detail should be in the 2-minute video?
The video should concisely explain your product/service, highlight key team members, and demonstrate your prototype/MVP. No need for professional production quality.
Is there an application fee?
No, application is completely free.
In which language should I submit my application?
Applications can be submitted only in English.
Who are the judges?
Our judging panel consists of established investors, successful entrepreneurs, and industry experts. The specific panel will be announced shortly.
How will we know if we make the shortlist?
All applicants will be notified by email. Semi-finalists will also receive a phone call.
What sectors or industries should the pitch be focused on?
We welcome innovations across all sectors. However, solutions addressing critical challenges in healthcare, agriculture, financial inclusion, clean energy, and education may receive special consideration.
Will travel expenses be covered for finalists?
